Philippians 2
I enjoy the Christmas season for many reasons, but especially for one huge reason – I get to reflect on the amazing gift the Father gave in Jesus. Truly, the Father has given us a gift that is infinite, awesome and inexhaustible in wonder.
I have trouble wrapping my mind around the grandeur of creation. The intricacies and perfection that must be present for life to exist on earth at all is simply mind boggling! The size of our universe is measured in billions of light years, which still doesn’t begin to answer the question of what’s beyond that. Those who prefer the microscope over the telescope add more zeros to the right side of the decimal point to describe the minuteness of His creation and we haven’t even begun to consider the spiritual realm. I am confident that this unseen realm saw no less of His creative power! A world of which we understand so little, but will one day rejoice in completely.
All this is so awesome and amazing and clearly demonstrates the power of our wise God. However, it all pales in comparison to God the Father sending His only Son to earth to sacrifice Him for our sin! What kind of God is this? As Creator of the universe, He was willing to humble Himself and come to earth, not just as a man but as an absolutely helpless baby. This gives us a small glimpse into how much He loves us! His love for us is far greater than all the grandeur of His creation! Take this special season to reflect on His great love for you and remind each other how it should affect our every thought, word and action.
