I read recently that people who write are healthier and happier. I believe that. So then I wondered if I would write about my dieting experiences if that would make me stronger in that department too. So, this is an experiment.

I’ve lost over 35 pounds in over a year by cutting out refined sugar and refined flour – that’s pretty much all desserts – almost all pies, cake, cookies, breads and most other desserts. Add to that regular exercise and you have formula for success. My goal was to lower my A1C and my cholesterol. I achieved that in the first 6 months.

But now things have gone on hold. My theory is that sometimes you have to slow down in order for your body to catch up. Even though my weight hasn’t changed much since Christmas, it seems like my body has gotten leaner and more fit. I am exercising more, but it would be a little encouraging to see the scale go down too.  But, they also say that muscle weighs more than fat, so that could be some of the hold up in the weight loss area.

I feel honored and blessed by God that I was given this opportunity to get myself fit. I sometimes wonder if it is because He still has work for me to do. I feel stronger and younger than ever–if it would just get the last 15 pounds off… But then, it seems like a lot of people have 15 pounds to lose.  Fifteen pounds isn’t much compared to what I have lost.

So, now, this is an experiment. Will writing about this help me stick to the plan better and make those little tweaks necessary to lose the last 15 pounds? I will report back in a month to let you know.

Was raised in the Mennonite community. She can trace her roots way back to the 1700’s in Prussia. Marilynn, as a history buff, has always been curious about the trip her ancestors took from Prussia to Southern Russia (Ukraine) and what they could have encountered between the two points. Marilynn has done an incredible amount of research to discover the political and social climate of the day and is attempting to put it in fiction story form for other readers to enjoy.

Marilynn invites you to join her on this journey of discovery.
