Jerry Jenkins, author of over 190 books including the Left Behind Series, has released his latest book, Dead Sea Rising, first in the new series, “Dead Sea Chronicles”. This book uses Scripture as a springboard for a story line that takes you to the past and links with the present. While part of this story takes place over 4,000 years ago to the birth of Abram (Abraham) in Mesopotamia, interwoven throughout the book another story is taking place in present-day New York. Archeologist, Nicole Berman, has applied to lead a dig in the Middle East which will reveal ancient findings which have some significance for groups of people today. But, someone does not want her digging around in the past and causes havoc to sidetrack her and hopefully make her reconsider her plans.

The book presents some interesting ethical questions: What will it take for Nicole to change her mind about the dig? Is she willing to put her family at risk in order to go through with her desires? To what lengths must a servant in ancient times obey his master, even if it means going against his conscience? To disobey could mean his life, but what are the consequences of obeying?

Jenkins deals with these questions, and more in his newest book, Dead Sea Rising. It is an interesting back and forth timeline which at first may seem disjointed, but soon becomes one smooth story which is hard to put down until the end. It is then that you realize with some dismay that you will have to wait for the sequel for the story to continue.

Hello,

I’m Marilynn

God knew me before the world was even created. He planned for me and created me in my mother’s womb. He caused many experiences, past and present, to weave into my life. I can trace my roots as far back as the Mennonites in the Reformation. This rich history makes me the person I am today. And God is still working on me. He will not give up teaching me new things until I see Him in glory.

I invite you to join me on this journey of development.
